Crime Report: Knife, Pistol and Magazines Stolen, and More

Also, two friends pull a 'bait and switch' on a store owner to steal merchandise, and campaign signs are reported stolen.

A man recently called police to report that some rather important cargo had been stolen from his car.

On Oct. 28, a man reported that, while his car had been parked in the 10600 block of Springmann Drive, it had been broken into. 

The car burglar reportedly stole a knife, a pistol and several magazines from the car.

No word on why the guy was carrying the weapons around with him in his car.

The following additional incidents were also reported by the City of Fairfax Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.


Oct. 20 - Assault: At 1:30 a.m., a 24-year-old Woodbridge woman reported that she had gotten into an altercation with a male acquaintance in the SunTrust Bank parking lot at 4020 University Dr. on the way home from a bar. She said he had struck her, choked her and pushed her to the ground before leaving the area. The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment of her injuries. A warrant was obtained charging the suspect with assault and battery. Warrant service was pending.

Oct. 22 - Larceny: A political candidate reported to police that several campaign signs had been stolen from in front of the Shell gas station at 3560 Chain Bridge Road.

Oct. 25 - Assault: At 10:37 a.m., a male victim reported that he had been repairing his car near the intersection of Rust Road and Westmore Drive when he was hit by something two young males shot at him. He said two young males fired a weapon at him, and the projectile hit him. Police responded to the area but were unable to locate the two young males. The man refused medical treatment.

Oct. 25 - Larceny: The employee of a local bio-fuels company reported that, on two occasions since Sept. 6, someone had stolen used cooking oil from a tank outside the Blue Ocean Restaurant. The same thing happened sometime since Oct. 18, with disappearing cooking oil at Yen Cheng, 9440 Main St. 

Oct. 25 - Shoplifting: The owner of All Eyes Optometrists at 3950 University Dr. reported that two unknown male subjects had entered the business, and while one was talking to the staff, the other apparently took three pairs of sunglasses and left the store.

Oct. 26 - Fraud: A resident of the 10200 block of Brigade Drive reported that the day before, he had received a call from a male subject purporting to be his grandson, claiming he had been arrested in New York and needed the victim to send money for bail, which the victim did before ascertaining the call was fraudulent.
