SkateFest l Sk8 for a Cause is an event for the whole family! Come out and help us support Children's National and enjoy a day of skateboarding, prizes, food, music and other great activities!
The 7th Annual SkateFest l Sk8 for a Cause is getting close, only a month away! Below you will find the who, what, where, why and how's about SkateFest 2013 and how you can get involved with this great event!
What is it? SkateFest l Sk8 for a Cause is a large skate competition that extends over two days, raises money for the Children's National Medical Center of Washington DC and celebrates National Go Skateboarding Day! Sk8 for a Cause will consist of skaters of all ages and skill levels - they will skate around a check-pointed route, raising money and winning prizes. After Sk8 for a Cause commences the festival and skate competition will begin. The skate competition is a five-event competition that will take place throughout the day.
Why do we do this? Over the past 7 years of putting on this event, we have learned a few things. The Children's National Medical Center has had huge impacts on many people all over the country. The lives our donation can save is enough to put on this event every year. We have also learned that skateboarders need a place to skate, especially on National Go Skateboarding Day and this event seemed like the perfect way to accomplish both.

When is it? SkateFest will take place June 21 & 22nd. The preliminary rounds for the skate competition will be on Friday night. All those who wish to participate in the skate competition must attend the preliminary rounds Friday night. Saturday will begin at noon with registration for Sk8 for a Cause. Any and all are invited to register for Sk8 for a Cause to help raise money for the Children's National Medical Center.
Where is it? SkateFest will take place at Wakefield Skate Park located at 8100 Braddock Rd, Annandale, VA.

How can YOU get involved? We invite everyone in the Virginia, Maryland and DC area and beyond to come participate or just simply enjoy the festival. The festival will include food vendors, skateboard vendors and many other activities for kids, teens and adults of all ages to come and enjoy.
