Feeling Sick? No Appointment Needed at This New Fairfax Clinic

MinuteClinic, the largest provider of retail-based medical clinics in the United States, has opened a new walk-in clinic inside the CVS/Pharmacy store in Fairfax at 3921 Prosperity Ave. It is the twenty-third location in Northern Virginia and the 34th in Virginia.

According to a press release, the clinic can provide treatments for strep throat and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections as well as minor wounds, abrasions, skin conditions and joint sprains.

Common vaccinations such as influenza, tetanus, pneumonia and Hepatitis A & B, are also available. The clinic also provides walk-in camp, sports and college physicals, which are available daily.

In addition, MinuteClinic provides wellness services designed to help patients identify how they can improve their current and future health by providing screenings and monitoring for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Joanne Yoo, the Statewide Practice Manager at the Fairfax clinic, says there are many things that make MinuteClinic a viable option for patients.

“It is convenient, accessible, provides great quality, and does not cost much,” said Yoo. “You don’t need an appointment, and you can walk in and we’re open every day of the week.”

So far, Yoo said there has been a positive reaction from the community to the new MinuteClinic location.

“We’ve been received very well. Patients love us,” Yoo said. “They love the fact that we’re open every day. They like that they can just come in and check in. For instance, a woman with a UTI (urinary tract infection) does not want to wait a week to see her doctor.”

As for changes due to ObamaCare, Yoo said that MinuteClinic has been unaffected so far, but that she thinks there will be an increased demand for what the clinic can provide.

MinuteClinic accepts most health insurance. Patients are responsible for their insurance copay. If you are uninsured or prefer to pay out of pocket, the clinic also accepts cash, checks and credit cards. For a full list of accepted plans, click here.

The cost for most treatment starts at $79.
