Fairfax Boy Struck by Urine-Filled Balloon, Incident Investigated as Possible Hate Crime

A 12-year-old boy operating a lemonade stand in Fairfax on July 6 was struck with a urine-filled water balloon, and Fairfax County Police have stepped in, the Washington Post reports

The incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime. It took place on the 12000 block of Monument Drive in Fairfax on July 6 after a man wearing a bizarre leotard threw the red balloon at the boy, the Post reports.

The man told the boy: “Go back to Africa you [expletives]! It was only piss,” according to a search warrant obtained by the Post.

Witnesses in the complex reportedly said they have seen the man wearing the same leotard in the complex a few times recently, including one other incident in which he threw a balloon but did not hit anyone.
