Fairfax High Band Boosters' Tag Day Coming Up, Last Week for Summer Nights On the Plaza, and More

Fairfax High School's musical groups are gearing up for the 2013-14 season! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 7 for Tag Day. All members of the Fairfax High School Wind Ensemble and Symphonic, Concert, and Marching Bands, together with the Color Guard and Percussion Ensemble, will be dressed in full uniform, ready to ring your doorbell for their annual Tag Day Fundraiser. Your contribution to the Fairfax High School Band Boosters will assist in purchasing music, repairing and replacing band instruments and equipment, providing transportation to performances and competitions, and generally providing the financial support required to maintain a high-quality, educational band program. Do you love looking at local art? Mark your calendar for Thursday, Sept. 5 for a reception celebrating the opening of a new exhibit in the Rotary Gallery at the Sherwood Community Center, featuring watercolors by nationally-known watercolorist and television personality, Leonard Justinian. The reception will take place from 7-9 p.m. The Sherwood Community Center is located at 3740 Old Lee Highway next to Van Dyck Park.

All summer long, locals have been enjoying the Summer Nights on the Plaza concert series at Old Town Plaza, at the corner of North Street and Chain Bridge Road, by the fountain. This Friday is the last performance! Come out at 7:30 p.m. this Friday to catch a show by Sior Og. The shows are free!
