Susan Francis is a writer and photographer who has lived in the D.C. area since 1987.  She began her journalism career in high school, writing for her local community newspaper, The Addison Leader.  At Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, she majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in music.  She also studied photography with Life photojournalist Diane Gentry, and has many published photos.

Ms. Francis worked for WOAI (CBS) News Radio, and hosted a weekly jazz program on KRTU Radio.  She then worked on the production crew for KMOL (NBC) Television.  When the Today Show broadcast live from the Riverwalk, Susan was behind one of the cameras.  

From the media, Ms. Francis worked many years in public relations, and continues to work as a consultant, specializing in social media. 

In addition to freelancing as a writer - photographer for Patch, Ms. Francis also writes book reviews for Virginia Libraries magazine.<br><br>A believer in community service, Ms. Francis volunteers for Simple Changes Therapeutic Riding Center, the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. 

Susan loves animals, and spends most of her free time riding her horse on Mason Neck.
