Stephanie Lanham, Neighbor

As a newbie to the world of freelance writing, I definitely have a lot to say... 

I am currently in my last year of achieving my bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations from George Mason University. I also work part-time at a non-profit organization that houses over 700 different charitable programs.

I have grown up in a family with so much diversity, and in turn, I like to think that I write with a sense of heart.  I come from a world where family members struggle daily with their differences.  Being a daughter to a mother, who emigrated from Peru in her late twenties, has made me understand people of diverse backgrounds.  Also, being a younger sibling to a brother who was born with Autism, makes me truly treasure and respect those who are different.

At a young age, I was immersed in a world of creativity as I often listened to my father play guitar.  He inspired me to not let life get me down, and that music and writing was always there to “escape” from it. 

Aside from playing guitar myself, this is where <i>my</i> creativity steps in at Patch.  I want to write about things I know and open people’s eyes to the differences and greatness that constantly surround us.  I hope that I can open your minds into another’s world or at least know that someone is reading what I have to say.
