UPDATE: Romney Rally Monday Moves to GMU's Patriot Center

GOP presidential nominee to campaign in toss-up state on eve of Election Day.

UPDATE (Sunday 5:55 p.m.): The location for the political rally with former Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president, has changed from the outdoor venue at George Mason University to its Patriot Center. The rally at the Patriot Center, which seats 10,000, is scheduled for the day before Election Day. Tickets are required for the free event and are available online. Romney's sons were in Fairfax County Sunday campaigning for their dad. They were accompanied by Virginia Gov. Sen. John McCain Campaigns for Romney in Fairfax City

Former GOP presidential nominee spoke at American Legion Post 177.

U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) campaigned for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney today at the American Legion Post 177 in Fairfax. McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, compared his former opponent, President Barack Obama, to President Jimmy Carter, a one-term Democrat who occupied the White House from 1977-1981. "We need a new commander in chief," McCain said. "What happens in Northern Virginia is going to determine, probably, the outcome of this race."  McCain spent the day campaigning for Romney and after his Fairfax stop, stumped for Romney at the American Legion Post in Woodbridge. President Barack Obama Returns to George Mason University Friday

Grassroots campaign event set for Friday morning.

Fresh off this week's debate appearance with rival Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama returns to Northern Virginia on Friday, campaigning at George Mason University's Recreation and Athletic Complex. Obama recently campaigned at GMU. The grassroots event is set for Friday, when doors open at 8:45 a.m. at the complex, located at 4350 Bainster Court. Tickets will be required for entrance to the campaign rally. One ticket will be distributed ona first-come, first-served basis. Under sunny skies Thursday, large crowd hears from GOP presidential nominee.

UPDATE: (12:35 p.m.): Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president, has arrived in Fairfax City's Van Dyck Park and is speaking to a large gathering of supporters at a campaign rally there. --- A large crowd numbering in the hundreds is assembled at Van Dyck Park in Fairfax City just before noon on Thursday, awaiting the arrival of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney under blue skies and temperatures in the 70s. Poll: Should Obama Propose Extending Tax Cuts to All?

President Obama wants to extend tax cuts only to those making less than $250,000.

As President Barack Obama prepares to visit Fairfax County, one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, on Saturday, members of Congress are debating whether to heed his call to extend a Bush-era tax cut to families making less than $250,000. Republicans want to see that cut applied to all, including families making more than $250,000. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who represents Virginia's 7th Congressional District, said he would schedule a vote later this month to extend the cuts to all, including the wealthy. Obama has said he would veto anything that includes tax cuts for all. Former Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat and friend of the president, disagrees with Obama on the cut-off point. Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell may still be in the running for the VP slot with former Gov. Mitt Romney, the GOP presumptive nominee in the presidential race. On Tuesday morning's "Ask the Governor" program on radio station WTOP, the governor told host Mark Segraves that "apparently there's some vetting going on," by the Romney campaign. Instead of denying that he is being vetted, as he has done in the past, McDonnell said Tuesday it would be best to ask the Romney campaign.
