Victim Identified in Fatal Ox Road Crash

The woman who died was not wearing a seat belt.

West Springfield District police responded to a crash on Ox Road at Zion Drive on Thursday, June 28, at about 12:50 p.m. A 34-year-old Lorton-area woman was driving northbound on Ox Road in a 2005 Lexus LS430. Margaret Brigidini, 71, of Fairfax, was driving southbound on Ox Road in a 2005 Lexus ES300.  She attempted to turn onto Zion Drive, near her home on Stanhope Place, and drove into the path of the Lexus LS430. The vehicles impacted in the intersection. Brigidini died at the scene of the crash. She was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Lexus LS430, a 7-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl were all transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. UPDATED: Car Hits Transformer, Causes Fire, Power Outage (VIDEO)

The incident drew a crowd.

UPDATE (4:01 p.m.): The incident was caused by a two-car accident at about 11:25 Thursday night. The driver at fault was charged with failure to yield right of way. His SUV swerved off the road hitting the transformer. He was transported to the hospital and his status is not currently known.  The other driver suffered only minor injuries and walked away.  Dominion Power is currently using a generator on the scene. Power lines are expected to be repaired between 3-5 p.m. today.  ----------- UPDATE (12:31 a.m.): Dominion Power just arrived. A fire broke out after a vehicle hit a transformer and flipped over along Lee Highway in front of Wegmans Wednesday night. The incident cut power to surrounding apartments.
