Fairfax man charged.
Police, K-9 teams and a helicopter searched for a fleeing suspect Tuesday at the boundary of Fairfax City and Oakton. The 20-year old Fairfax man was caught, arrested and charged that night. Fairfax County Police stopped a vehicle in the 9600 block of Kingsbridge Drive at 8 p.m. for a traffic violation. Scott Crampton, 20, of Fairfax allegedly fled the vehicle, inciting the search effort, said county officer Eduardo Azcarate. Fairfax City police joined in the search when they received a report of a suspicious individual on Blue Coat Drive in Mosby Woods, said Warren Carmichael of the City of Fairfax Police Department. Investigation helped along by new evidence, media attention and community tips.
A Fairfax man was arrested in connection with a June hit and run that threw Mohammad Jabour 50 feet into a parked car at Fairfax Boulevard and Warwick Avenue. Police released surveillance images of the vehicle suspected in the hit and run in August. The new evidence and media attention raised the interest of the community, said Sgt. Joe Johnson of the City of Fairfax Police Department. Thanks to tips from the public, police identified the driver as Leon Andrew D. Oliveira, 35, of Barrick Street. Oliveira was charged with felony hit and run and arrested when he met with officers at the police station on Nov. 28. He was transported to the Adult Detention Center and bail was set at $2,500. Suspect who allegedly killed 62-year-old man apprehended in Washington D.C.
Police arrested a Strasburg, Va. man in connection with the August hit and run death of a 62-year-old man on Fairfax Boulevard. Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested Malik Tayvon Battle, 22, in Washington D.C. He was transferred into City of Fairfax Police custody Sept. 28. Battle is charged with striking James Ralph Davidson with his vehicle as Davidson was attempting to cross the road at around 1:15 a.m. Aug. 18. in the 9800 block of Fairfax Boulevard near Draper Drive. Battle did not stop to aid the victim, police said. Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene. A hearing has been set for 9:20 am. Oct. 30 in Fairfax County District Court. Burke resident arrested for selling K-2 to George Mason students.
West Springfield District Police have arrested a 59-year-old Burke woman for the illegal possession and sale of synthetic marijuana, also known as K-2. Detectives received an anonymous tip through Crime Solvers in early October. The tip alleged that Un Y. Lahr was selling the illegal substance to George Mason University students at Lee’s Market in University Mall. Detectives conducted a detailed investigation and determined Lahr would only sell the synthetic substance to teenagers and students who presented college identification. George Mason University Police assisted Fairfax County Police detectives in the investigation. Several purchases of synthetic marijuana were made by an undercover officer.
