A Little Taste of Opera for the Kids: It's never too early (or too late) to expose the young ones to opera—particularly when it's in the form of one of their favorite fairy tales! Come to Fairfax City for the Virginia Opera's operatic version of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, based on scenes from the operettas of Sir Arthur Sullivan. This classic tale exposes children to the opera art form while emphasizing respect and consideration for others. Free. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2 p.m. Stacy Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Old Lee Hwy., Fairfax.
