This Weekend: Boston Brass, Super Science, 'Electric Sunday' and More

New School of Virginia Open HouseCome and talk with teachers, parents and students and learn what representatives say makes The New School a "unique educational gem" in the D.C. Art Walk. This weekend is the 2nd Saturday Art Walk at the Workhouse Arts Center. The event showcases the work of over 100 visual artists. Organizers are also collecting non-perishable foods for the Lorton Community Action Center. The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the center on 9601 Ox Road in Lorton.

Get Your Sketch On. Huntley Meadows Park is hosting a “Sketches in Nature” class. A park naturalist will give tips on adding sketches to your observations. The class for those over 15 is from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The class for children ages 9-13 is from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The park is at 3701 Lockheed Blvd. in Mount Vernon. Register online.

Science is Super. This weekend is “Super Science Saturday” at the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly. Participants can view demonstrations and check out hands-on activities related to science, technology, and engineering. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center on 14390 Air & Space Museum Way. Admission is free, parking is $15.

Electric Sunday. Need to get rid of some unwanted electronics? It’s Electric Sunday in Fairfax County this Saturday. There is no charge for Fairfax County residents to recycle televisions, computers and peripheral devices. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the I-66 transfer station on 4618 W. Ox Road in Fairfax.

Boston Brass. The Atlantic Brass Quintet has been called “one of the world’s finest brass ensembles.” $35. 8 p.m. Friday. The Barns at Wolf Trap, 1635 Trap Road, Vienna. See the complete Wolf Trap schedule.

Diverse Works. Pieces from more than 100 artists on display during the 2nd Saturday Art Walk. Free. 6-9 p.m. Saturday. Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton. See the complete Workhouse schedule.

Caffeinated. The Woodbridge Dance Company presents A Coffee House Concert Collection, with guest performers from Capital Movement. $25, $20 for seniors/students. 7 p.m. Saturday. Merchant Hall.
