This Weekend: Family Movie Night, Celtic Christmas Concert, Festival and Tree Lighting, Free Concert at Old Town Hall and More

Bonita Lestina Performance Series at Old Town Hall. The latest performance in this free series is by The Cathedral Brass of Vienna Presbyterian Church. Founded in 1983 by the late Ray Abell, the Cathedral Brass performs sacred and secular works from all eras. Free. This Friday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. Old Town Hall, 3999 University Dr. at Main Street in Fairfax City.


Family Fun Movie Night. Dress comfy and relax and watch a family movie without waiting in line at the theaters. This Friday's choice is the animated film Epic. Rated PG. An adult must accompany anyone age 14 or younger. Free. This Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Old Lee Hwy., Fairfax City. 


Tour Ratcliffe-Allison House by Candlelight.
Built in 1812, this house is one of Fairfax City's oldest residences. Maintained by Historic Fairfax City, the museum interprets the daily activities of some of the home's original occupants and illustrates commercial and domestic change along Main Street during the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is furnished with period pieces collected by the late Kitty Pozer, for whom the garden is named. This Saturday, Dec. 7, during the Festival of Lights and Carols and Tree Lighting, tour the Ratcliffe-Allison House by candlelight from 6-7 p.m. Free. 10386 Main St., Old Town Fairfax City.


Horse Parade: Visit Clifton for a horse parade, Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and candlelight homes tour. Dec. 7, starts at 2 p.m. along the town of Clifton’s Main Street. See a schedule of events on the town’s website.


Celtic Christmas Concert. 
Starring Sior-Og and Friends. Enjoy Irish and Celtic Christmas Carols, Christmas stories from Ireland and other lands, Irish step dancing, a scene from It's a Wonderful Life and more. Admission $5, 12 and under free. This Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Old Lee Hwy. in Fairfax City.


Messiah Sing-Along. A joyful sing-along event of Part 1 of the Messiah and Hallelujah Chorus, accompanied by a chamber orchestra, organ and soloists. Bring your own score or purchase one at the door. Don't want to sing? Come along and listen. Reception to follow. Childcare provided. This Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Truro Anglican Church, Main Sanctuary, 10520 Main St., Fairfax City.



'Home For The Holidays' Concert. Come enjoy the annual holiday concert by Fairfax City's Main Street Community Band, playing classic and modern holiday music. Free. This Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. Lanier Middle School, 3801 Jermantown Road, Fairfax City.


Fairfax City's Annual Day of Holiday Celebrations. This Saturday, Dec. 7 brings a day full of special activities beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing through 7 p.m. Includes Firefighter Pancake Breakfast with Santa, Lunch With Santa, Festival of Lights and Carols at Old Town Hall and Kitty Pozer Garden, Tree Lighting Ceremony and more.
