Children's Performance at Old Town Hall: Start the week off with fun and laughter - bring the little ones to a special free performance by children's artist "Mr. Skip." 'Perfect Exposures' Exhibit Now Open at Sherwood Center: 
Come see the City of Fairfax's newest exhibit at the Sherwood Community Center, featuring a collection of contemporary artwork by Northern Virginia artists Don Allen, Larry Oskin, Martin Horn, Ellis Rosenberg and Jim Schlett. The exhibit is open now through Oct. 31. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Sherwood Center, 3740 Old Lee Hwy. 2013 Fall Festival: Don't forget, this Saturday is the annual Fall Festival in downtown Fairfax City! Food and artist booths, rides, live music stages, a beer garden and more will fill the streets for thousands of visitors. New this year - the Lumberjack Competition! This Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with rides until 8 p.m. For more information, visit the festival's Facebook page.

Walk to Stop Diabetes: 'Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes' is the signature fundraising walk of the American Diabetes Association. The event has been taking place for more than 20 years and has raised more than $175 million. Join in at Fairfax Corner this Saturday, Oct. 12 at 9 a.m. The walk kicks off at the Fairfax Corner shopping center, near the County Government Center, and follows a beautiful 5k route throughout the area. Nearly 500 walkers are already registered. How The Kids Can Start a 'Sitting Business': A workshop geared especially for children who want to start house sitting, babysitting, pet sitting, plant sitting, lawn mowing/yard work, etc. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Monday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Old Lee Hwy. $80. Register online through Parks & Rec Dept.
