A community-wide celebration of volunteering!

The Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards is a community-wide celebration of volunteerism. The Awards honors individuals, groups, and organizations, which have given outstanding volunteer service.

Established in 1993, the Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards serve as a community-wide celebration of volunteerism. The Awards honors individuals, groups, and organizations, which have given outstanding volunteer service through a broad range of activities and programs.

One of the awards given is the Adult Volunteer Under 250 Hours Award. Last year’s recipient was Scott Anderson.  As a survivor of a brain injury, Scott came to FACETS with the goal of leading a fulfilling and productive life, through a partnership with Brain Injury Services. For six hours each week, Scott volunteers in the Emergency Food Pantry by rotating stock, noting expiration dates, and organizing shelves. Eager to help and make a bigger impact, Scott volunteered at the organization a few extra days during the holiday season to help sort and receive large volumes of food donations. Every week, Scott’s skills are improving and he has become a vital asset to the organization. Without his dedication, willingness to learn, and organizational skills, FACETS’ Emergency Pantry would not be able to provide its current level of service.

“Scott has made the Emergency Pantry his own!” says FACETS Director of Development, Ken Bradford. “His efforts have provided our case managers a quick and easy resource to find what they are looking for to meet our clients’ needs. Scott brings an infectious, upbeat spirit every day he is in the office, and is a joy to work with. We are truly blessed to have him as part of the FACETS team!” Congratulations Scott and thank you for your service to your community!
