City's 'Nomad' Summer Camp for Kids Starts Aug. 12

It's a week full of adventure for kids, by the City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department.

We may be into the last month of summer now - can you believe it? - but there's still time to sign your kid up for some summer camp fun.

The City of Fairfax's Nomad Camp is coming up on Aug. 12, and there's still spots available for kids who want to get in on the action.

Nomad Camp is a week packed full of awesome field trips that kids are sure to call "the best week of their lives," staff members say. Kids ages 6 to 15 are welcome.

Pick-up and drop-off each day takes place at the Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Old Lee Hwy.

The field trips include Six Flags, the National Aquarium, Hershey Park, a Potomac Nationals game, and King's Dominion theme park.

Sign up for one individual trip (individual trips range from $45 to $90 per child) or get a deal on the whole week of all five trips for $280 per child.

Also, for this camp, the City is opening up registration for parents to accompany their child if they choose. If not, staff says your child will be supervised by experienced staff "who will ensure your child has an amazing time."

For more information or to register, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 703- 385-7858.

What camps have your children participated in this year? Tell us in the comments.
