The early season renewal of the cross town rivalry between the Fairfax Rebels and the Woodson Cavaliers featured two teams undefeated through the first week of the season. The Rebels (1-0) were coming off a victory over Robinson, while the Cavaliers (3-0-2) were coming off a successful performance at the Under the Lights tournament at Lee High School.

The Rebels controlled play in the first half of the game, keeping the ball in the Cavaliers side of the field. The Rebels were able to draw eight penalty corners and nine shots, but senior goalie Jessica Peckins was up to the task and was able to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

In the second half, the Rebels continued the pressure drawing a penalty corner ealy in the half. Junior midfielder Sara Allen received the ball and crossed it to sophomore midfielder Trisha Le, who was able to find the back of the net for the first score of the game.

After the Fairfax goal, the Cavaliers were able to mount some offensive attacks to try to even the score, but were unable to crack the Rebel defense and midfield.

The Rebels (2-0) took on Chantilly on Wednesday. The Cavaliers have a break before traveling to Westfield on September 7th to take on the Bulldogs.
