POLL: Should Joe Paterno Have Been Fired?

The legendary coach is out. What's your reaction?

The latest wrinkle in the Penn State child sex abuse scandal rocked the sports world last night.

Legendary head football coach Joe Paterno, who has helmed the team for more than five decades and is the winningest coach in college football, was fired in a telephone call by the school's Board of Trustees.

"The board also voted to oust university president Graham B. Spanier, bringing to four the number of administrators, including Paterno, who have lost their jobs over the burgeoning scandal — in which Jerry Sandusky, Penn State’s longtime defensive coordinator, was arrested on charges of molesting at least eight boys between 1994 and 2009," according to the Washington Post.

Paterno, who was told about the abuse, is in hot water for not reporting it to the authorities.

So what do you think? Was the school right for letting Paterno go, or is he collateral damage?
