Bike to Work Day 2014: City, Businesses Prep Pit Stop

Free food, drinks, bike tune-ups, massages and prizes at Fairfax City stop.

Bicycle riders heading out or riding through Fairfax City on Friday for their morning commute will have a pit stop with free food, drinks and prizes. 

Friday, May 16, 2014 is Bike to Work Day in the D.C. metro area. It's an annual event that draws support from cycling groups throughout Northern Virginia, D.C. and Maryland.

The City of Fairfax will have a pit stop from 6-9 a.m. at Main Street Marketplace, in the parking lot near Main Street Bagel and Coyote Grill.

  • Free bike tune-ups on site courtesy of Hudson Trail Outfitters, Performance Bicycle and Spokes Bicycles
  • Free massages by isola di pace
  • Prizes donated by all three City bike stores and Twins Ace Hardware
  • Free giveaway items from Cardinal Bank

There will be 79 pit stops in communities throughout the region, offering refreshments and a raffle for bicycles. Register for Bike to Work Day 2014.

For those worried about the right route, experienced bicycle commuters will be leading commuter convoys or you can find a ride buddy.
