Woodson Cavaliers Gear Up for Homecoming Events Friday

Get a rundown of all the activities planned for Homecoming this Friday.

While the Fairfax Rebels rally just across town, the Woodson High Cavaliers will also be getting pumped up for Homecoming this Friday, Oct. 4.

As usual, there's a full schedule of activities planned for Homecoming Day this Friday.

It all kicks off with the Homecoming Parade, beginning at 4:30 p.m., following the usual route through the neighborhood behind the school.

Immediately following the parade, it's time to pig out at the Pig-Out! All are invited to the pre-game Pig-Out party on the outdoor basketball courts. This annual event includes local food vendors, music, games, face-painting, moon bounces and more.

Of course, all of this leads up to the Homecoming game at 7:30 p.m., when the Cavaliers take on the Oakton High Cougars.

Just before the game, the Marching Cavaliers band will perform a pre-game show. It's been a great year for the Marching Cavaliers so far - last weekend, on Sept. 28th,  the band took the Grand Champion award at the North Stafford Invitational.  They also won 1st place in Class AAAA, and First Place in the Blue Division, in addition to the overall Grand Champion award.

During the game will be the Gridiron Club Raffle, with some impressive items, like official autographed Redskins player jerseys, and a football autographed by Robert Griffin III. Tickets are $5 each or six for $20.

Of course, no Homecoming week would be complete without the Homecoming Dance, which takes place on Saturday night from 8-11:30 p.m. This year's theme is "Old Hollywood."
