GMU is the largest public institution in Virginia, with more than 26,000 Virginia residents enrolled.

The university’s unparalleled growth is, in large part, due to its "commitment of remaining affordable and accessible," said President Ángel Cabrera.

“We are committed to providing a transformational educational experience to our students and preparing them for meaningful and successful careers, while remaining as affordable as we possibly can," he said. "The tuition increase this year will be the lowest in over a decade.”

In March the university unveiled its "new vision plan," thereby launching a multi-year strategic planning process. Cabrera said the plan will address resource investments needed "to continue Mason’s tradition of excellence, affordability and accessibility."

“These are challenging times,” said C. Daniel Clemente, rector of the Board of Visitors. “The university will need to balance its resource needs and commitments."

"I appreciate the university administration’s continued efforts to keep Mason accessible," Clemente continued. "We are also grateful for the investments and support of the governor and members of the General Assembly. We look forward to a robust and productive dialogue about the additional investments needed to continue our success as an innovative and inclusive academic community.”
