PVI Breaks School Records with 'Ton of Love'

The school raised over 17,000 pounds of food this year.

topped all its records with this year's canned food drive. The school community raised more food than any other drive in PVI history.

The 2011 Ton of Love canned food drive raised over 31,000 cans and $17,000 for Food for Others, a massive nonprofit that distributes free food directly to needy families in Northern Virginia, according to Eileen Kiley, PVI director of communications. 

All in all the drive totals mean 17,497 pounds of food for homeless and poor neighbors.

“Every year, Paul VI’s food drive is an important part of our incoming food for November and it is the biggest school-run food drive of the entire year. Food for Others is grateful to the families, students and staff at Paul VI again this year,” said Roxanne Rice, Executive Director of Food for Others.
