Fairfax County School District Introduces New Mobile App

Want to check days off, or contact a school board member, or add money to your child's lunch account? Now, there's an app for that.

Fairfax County parents can now take care of important school business for their children while standing in line for their morning latte.

This week, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) introduced the district's new mobile app, available for free in both the iTunes Store and Google Play.

Parents can customize the app to follow their child's specific school.

From the app's menu parents can, at a glance, catch up on the school's top news, see the calendar for important events or days off, view the week's lunch menu, and even add money to their child's school lunch account.

Parents can even quickly look up contact information for school board members, or find a particular school's social media pages and accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

In a press release introducing the app, FCPS representatives said "The FCPS app will continue to be updated throughout the year. It is designed to be a convenient tool for on-the-go information and is not intended as a replacement for the FCPS website."

The app is maintained by the company ParentLink, and parents are encouraged to rate the app under the Settings tab.

City of Fairfax schools are also included in the FCPS app.
