There’s a Governor’s Race Underway (But Who Cares?)

A study suggests fewer than half of eligible Virginia voters will turn out. Will you?

What if there were a race for governor going on and nobody cared?

That’s not quite the case in this year’s election, between Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli, but it’s close enough.

The Washington Post did an analysis of Virginia gubernatorial elections, and here’s what the paper found: If there’s not a presidential race on a ballot, Virginians stay away from the voting booths in droves.

Of course, with millions of dollars being spent on television and Facebook ads, it’s just about impossible to ignore the race completely.
