Silverthorne Sends Storm Note to Fairfax City Residents

Send your letter to the editor at whitney@patch.com.

While I do not officially take over as mayor until this evening at midnight, I wanted to reach out and provide you with an update following the severe weather and power outages from last evening.

The City of Fairfax Departments of Emergency Services, Public Works and Parks and Recreation have been working overtime to return City services to normal activity. According to Dominion Power, nearly 90 percent of City customers experienced a power outage and their crews are working as quickly as possible to restore power. Some power has been restored over the past few hours.

I have been asked by Dominion to keep them informed of locations in need of service by contacting the following number: 866-366-4357. The City's 911 system has also been experiencing problems, so if you have an emergency, please contact our City police department at 703-591-8477. You may also feel free to contact me directly at 703-691-0033 should you need assistance.

I urge your continued patience as the City of Fairfax and Dominon Power work diligently to return to normal service levels.
