Power Outage, Smoky Smell Closes Courthouse

Court offices will reopen tomorrow.

A power outage and smoky smell at the Fairfax County Courthouse postponed trials, closed offices and brought firefighters over to investigate today.

The Fairfax City Fire Department found no fire, only a slight odor of smoke likely caused by electrical equipment affected by the power outage, said Battalion Chief Mark Ciarrocca.

General District, Circuit and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts services and courtrooms were closed this morning due to electrical failure.
