Election $$ Report: Meyer Spends Less, Wins More

Breakdown of funds spent by candidates in Fairfax City's 2012 elections.

More money does not mean more votes. At least that's what this year's city election results and campaign reports show.

For example, Councilman David Meyer spent the least of the council candidates (with the exception of Gary Perryman) and received the highest tally of votes.

And Councilman Steven Stombres spent around $30,000 yet was beaten by Councilmembers Dan Drummond and Ellie Schmidt, who each spent about half as much.

Here's the Fairfax City 2012 election breakdown:

City Council

  • David Meyer: Spent $5,986, received 1,835 votes, won 14.77 percent of the vote
  • Michael DeMarco: Spent $20,835, received 1,730 votes, won 13.93 percent of the vote
  • Dan Drummond: Spent $16,555, got 1,727 votes, won 13.90 percent of the vote
