Dog Licenses Due Feb. 1

Deadline is a day earlier for county folk.

Now's the time to register your pooch. 

Fairfax City and County dog license deadlines are coming up. All dogs over 4 months old must be licensed by the end of this month or beginning of February, depending on where you live.

If you're a Fairfax City resident:

  • Deadline is Feb. 1.
  • Licenses cost $5 a year per spayed/neutered dog, $10 per unaltered dog.
  • Bring your pet's rabies certificate to the Treasurer's Office in City Hall to obtain a new license.
  • If this is your first time licensing your dog, make sure you bring the rabies certificate AND neuter/spay certificate.
  • You can get the license application online.

If you're a Fairfax County resident:

  • Deadline is Jan. 31.
  • Licenses cost $10 per dog, per year.
  • You can fill out an application by mail, online, or in person.
