City of Fairfax Closes Offices, Cancels Trash Service

Registrar's office stays open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for absentee voting.

The City of Fairfax has closed all government offices Monday in anticipation of Hurriance Sandy.

The closures also cancel all events at city government facilities, according to an email from Community Relations Officer Chris Cohen, including:

  • Green Acres Center
  • the Senior Center
  • the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center.

  • No CUE Bus service Monday
  • No trash or recycling collection Monday. Weather permitting, "collection service will resume Tuesday, Oct. 30, with regular Monday and Tuesday trash and recyclables collection," Cohen wrote.
  • Administrative leave is in effect for city employees.

Unless a state of emergency closes all travel, Cohen wrote, "The General Registrar's Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday for absentee voting."
