Townhouse Fire in Fair Oaks Area Leaves One Displaced

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

 

A townhouse fire in the Fair Oaks area has left one resident displaced.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire Thursday morning at approximately 8:05 a.m. at the home, located at 4815 Green Duck Lane.

"Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the rear of the first floor of the [middle-unit], two-story townhouse upon arrival," firefighters said in a a statement Friday. "Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes."

Firefighters said the fire started near the stairs leading to the second floor.

Fortunately, smoke alarms were present and working, and no one was home when the fire broke out.

Fire and Rescue officials said one occupant has been displaced. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupant.

There were no injuries, though damage to the home is estimated at $50,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
