Teen Dies After Struck by VRE Train

School mobilizes counselors. Cause is still under investigation, according to Fairfax County Police.

A Fairfax Station teen died Wednesday morning after he was struck by a VRE train in Fairfax County.

Jack Chen, 15, was a 10th grader at Woodson High School. The principal sent a letter to parents regarding the death.

"Jack was an excellent student, bright and cheerful and very well liked by all who knew him," wrote Principal Jeff Yost. "He will be greatly missed."

The school has made crisis intervention specialists available to grieving students, staff and parents, according to the note.

Chen was hit near the 11500 block of Clara Barton Drive. at approximately 5:35 a.m., according to Fairfax County Police. The circumstances surrounding Chen's death are under investigation.
