Fairfax City firefighters responded to a fire at the Virginian Nursing Home in Mantua Tuesday morning.
The fire was contained to one room by rescue efforts and the nursing home's sprinkler system at around 11:30 a.m., said Asst. Chief Andy Vita of the City of Fairfax Fire Department. Residents and employees at the home took shelter in their rooms or gathering halls or relocated to another wing.
Right now firefighters are focused on removing water from the nursing home.
No word yet on what caused the fire. There were no injuries.
The Virginian is located at 9229 Arlington Blvd. just east of Pickett Road.
