Shirley Gate and Mattie Moore Sees Two Dead Within a Week
Traffic crashes killed two, only days apart.
Days before a Shirley Gate Road and Mattie Moore Court collision , a crash at the same intersection claimed the life of another.
A 27-year-old woman driving a 2011 Chevrolet Impala attempted to make a left turn onto Shirley Gate from the court at around 5:50 p.m. on June 28. As she entered the intersection, she struck a 2009 GMC Sierra pickup truck, according to Fairfax County Police. The collision pushed the pickup off the road. It went airborne and collided with a street light.
Charles R. Blevins, 64, of Clifton, was taken to the hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on July 1.

The driver of the Impala was uninjured.
Three days later a 21-year-old Burke woman died when the car she was riding in struck two trees in the same stretch of road. Police believe alcohol to be a factor in the July 4 crash. They have made no such connection in the collision that killed Blevins.
