Retiring Police Chief to be Recognized During Community Reception

Col. Rick Rappoport announced his retirement last month. Reception May 13.

The City of Fairfax will be recognizing retiring Police Chief Rick Rappoport during a community reception next week.

The event will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the City Hall Atrium, 10455 Armstrong Street.

Rappoport, chief for 13 years following 24 years as an officer and commander, announced his retirement last month. His last day will be Friday, May 9. 

Rappoport is taking a job with the Amtrak police force as deputy chief for the mid-Atlantic and southeast region.
