Prisoner Escapes Police Custody at Inova Fairfax Hospital

Police apprehended the prisoner at Dunn Loring Metro Station in Falls Church shortly after he eluded his police escort.

A prisoner eluded his police escort while receiving medical treatment at Inova Fairfax Hospital Wednesday, according to police.

Joseph Medina, 34, was being treated at the hospital around 4:52 p.m. when he escaped from his police escort and left the premises on foot.     

Several police units were deployed to the area to locate the prisoner, including the Fairfax County police helicopter. Police eventually apprehended Medina at the Dunn Loring Metro Station in Falls Church.

According to Fairfax County court records, Medina, who has a Chesterfield, Va. address, is charged with a number of crimes, including abduction by force or intimidation, residential robbery, profane language over a public airway, tampering with a vehicle and unlawfully setting a vehicle in motion.
