Police: Woodland Drive Burglary, Taxi Jumper, Shoplifters, Student Altercation

Police activity Oct. 13-21.

Fairfax City Police dealt with a burglary on Woodland Drive, a taxi customer who did not want to pay his bill, Kmart shoplifters, and a brief disagreement between two students last week.

  • Identity Theft, 3400 Block of White Oak Court: A resident told police about a message she received on Oct. 8 from someone pretending to be a Microsoft representative. The suspect sent her a message on her computer telling her to contact Microsoft, then later called her and asked her for personal information. She declined to give out any info. Instead, she called Microsoft and confirmed that the company had not tried to contact her.
  • Stolen Wallet, 10198 Main Street / CPA Office: An office worker encountered an unknown man in her office shortly before 10 a.m. on Oct. 21. He had stolen her wallet, hiding it under his shirt. He gave it back when she confronted him and fled. Nothing was missing from the wallet. 
  • Burglary, 4100 Block of Woodland Drive: An unknown person(s) broke into a Woodland Drive home and took a small safe containing cash and identification before 3 p.m. on Oct. 21. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident.
  • iPhone Theft, 11001 Lee Highway / Washington Sports Club: A Washington Spots Club customer told police someone(s) took his iPhone at around 5:30 p.m. Oct. 21. He had left it on a shower rack.
  • Stolen Wallet, 3925 Old Lee Highway / Edgemore Homes: Someone(s) stole a wallet containing cash, credit cards and identification from a purse in an Edgemore Homes office between 4-4:25 p.m. on Oct. 19. The credit cards were later used to make unauthorized purchases in Fairfax County.
  • Attempted Larceny, 9555 Fairfax Boulevard / Liberty Gas: Someone(s) tried to steal a CD player from a customer's vehicle, which was parked at the gas station after 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. 
  • Stolen Safety Signs, 9800 Block of Sharon Court: Someone(s) stole two yellow safety signs from the front yard of the Sharon Court home in the late night or early morning hours on October 12-13.
  • Taxi Jumper, 9500 Block of Fairfax Boulevard: A taxi driver was in for a surprise when he stopped at Fairfax Circle shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 18. His fare, an unknown man, jumped from the Dulles Taxi and ran away without paying his fare. 
  • Shoplifting, 4080 Jermantown Road / Kmart: A Kmart loss prevention manager took a young man and his juvenile accomplice in custody at around 4 p.m. Oct. 13 for allegedly attempting to steal merchandise from the store. Robert Fereno, 19, of Leesburg, was charged with petit larceny and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The second suspect, a juvenile, was not charged and was released to her parent.
  • Stolen Tech, 10300 Block of Layton Hall Drive: Someone(s) took several computer items from a home on Layton Hall Drive between 3-9 a.m. Oct. 11.  The Patrol Division is investigating the incident.
  • Grand Larceny, 4080 Jermantown Road / Kmart: Police were called to the Kmart at around 10 p.m. on Oct. 14 to deal with a man who was reportedly acting suspicious. Christopher Lee Richards, 20, with no fixed address, was arrested and charged with grand larceny. 
  • Theft From Vehicle, 10401 Eaton Place / Henry’s Towing: Someone(s) stole items from a vehicle parked in the Henry's Towing storage lot between 10 p.m Oct. 12 and 12 a.m. Oct. 13. 
  • Punctured Tire, 11100 block of Snughaven Lane: Someone(s) punctured a tire on a vehicle parked in front of a Snughaven Lane residence between 4-5:56 a.m. on Oct. 13.
  • Stolen License Plate, 11003 Lee Highway / CVS Pharmacy: Someone(s) stole the rear license plate from a vehicle parked at CVS on Lee Highway. The crime occurred between 12-3 p.m. on Oct. 13. 
  • Student Strikes Another, 3801 Jermantown Road / Sydney Lanier Middle School: A Lanier student told police that another student struck him while he was sitting on the bus in front of the school at 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 13. The School Resource Officer will investigate the incident.
