Police Seek New Leads in Businessman's Murder

Fairfax County police detectives are asking for the public's help to find the murderer of Yong Suk Yun, a prominent Korean businessman killed at his Fairfax Station home last October. 

On Monday police released a photo of a truck, with a trailer attached, that was seen in the area near Yun's home overlooking the Fairfax County Parkway. Police said that they would like to speak with anyone who drove the vehicle, or knows of someone who drove the vehicle. 

Yun was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1949, according to his online obituary. He owned a carwash in Chantilly and another outside Atlanta. His 2002 gold Lexus was missing for several days before . Police think someone out there knows who killed him.

"He could be your friend, co-worker, neighbor or a family member. He most likely lives, works, or regularly visits your neighborhood," police wrote. "Although coming forward with your suspicions might be difficult, your information will be kept strictly confidential and could prevent this person from killing again."

The call for help comes just days after an event hosted by the Voice of Vietnamese-Americans, seeking new leads in . On Saturday, police and some of the top leaders in Virginia’s Asian American community came to the Fairfax Government Center to promote crime prevention and unity amongst Fairfax County’s largest minority population.

Tony Pham (no relation to Vanessa), General Counsel of the Richmond City Sherriff’s office, said at the event that violent crimes in which victims were Asian Americans continue to rise in Virginia. However, they are decreasing throughout the rest of the country. He said 939 Asian-Americans were victims of murder, rape, assault burglary and robbery in 2010. 

According to the Virginia State Police, seven Asian Americans were murdered in Virginia in 2010, including Pham and Yun. 

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in Yun's murder.
