Police Release Sketch, Still Seek Suspects Who Assaulted Residents in Recent Robbery

A resident fired back with a gun at two robbers who broke in and assaulted his family Sept. 10 in Fairfax City.

City of Fairfax Police have released a composite sketch of one of the two suspects they are seeking in a brutal residential robbery that took place on Sept. 10, during which robbers assaulted residents, prompting one of the residents to fire back at them with a gun.

"Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the individuals who robbed a residence in the 3900 block of Bradwater Street in the Comstock community on September 10," the department said in a news release early Friday morning.

Officers said they received a call from the home around 10:45 that night. The occupants reported that two males forced their way into the townhouse and "implied they had weapons."

The residents reportedly told police that the robbers took several items of property and "physically assaulted" several of the occupants, who sustained minor injuries.

Public information officer Sgt. Kyle Penman said that during the robbery, one of the residents managed to get to a handgun they owned and fired it in the direction of the robbers, possibly hitting one of them as they fled the home.

Police responded immediately to the residents' call, dispatching canine and helicopter teams to conduct an extensive search of the area, but they were unable to locate the two suspects.
