Police Officer's Gun Stolen, Used in Drug-Related Killing

Police have a 24-year-old man in custody.

A Fairfax County police officer's gun was stolen while he was on vacation in New Jersey and subsequently used in a drug-related killing,according to The Washington Post.

According to reports, the unnamed officer was on vacation in New Jersey and had the gun in his locked car. His car was reportedly broken into and the gun stolen.

The Post 
reports that the gun was subsequently used by the leader of a heroin distribution ring to shoot and kill a New Jersey man.

New Jersey police have arrested 24-year-old Ronald T. Daniels for the alleged crime. The Post indicates Daniels was identified during a large sweep of a major heroin distribution gang.

Daniels reportedly faces first-degree murder, theft, and firearms-related charges.

Fairfax County Police public information officer Lucy Caldwell told the Post the police officer in question was allowed to carry his gun out of state.
