Police: Knife Threat in Shoplifting Refund Attempt

Charges for five-finger discount are just the start, according to Fairfax City Police.

A recent shoplifting charge was just the start for a suspect also accused of threatening a store clerk with a knife, according to Fairfax City Police.

Christopher Scott Kohne, 33, of 9802 Richard Avenue, Fairfax, is charged with assault with a knife, grand larceny and possession of burglarious tools.

At 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to TJ Maxx at 10300 Main St. An employee told police that Kohne had displayed a knife while attempting to get a refund on merchandise without a receipt. 

When Kohne left the store, he allegedly set off the security alarm, according to police.

"As the result of investigation by the Patrol Division the suspect was identified and arrested near his residence and was found to have items from the store in his possession," according to a release.
