Police, K-9 teams and a helicopter searched for a fleeing suspect Tuesday at the boundary of Fairfax City and Oakton. The 20-year old Fairfax man was caught, arrested and charged that night.
Fairfax County Police stopped a vehicle in the 9600 block of Kingsbridge Drive at 8 p.m. for a traffic violation. Scott Crampton, 20, of Fairfax allegedly fled the vehicle, inciting the search effort, said county officer Eduardo Azcarate.
Fairfax City police joined in the search when they received a report of a suspicious individual on Blue Coat Drive in Mosby Woods, said Warren Carmichael of the City of Fairfax Police Department. A city officer later saw the suspect at the Rodeway Inn on Fairfax Boulevard but he escaped.
County police called in K-9 units and a helicopter to assist with the search. The helicopter crew found Crampton outside Fairfax City and he was taken into custody.
Crampton was charged with destruction of property, obstruction of justice and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
