Police: 40 Feet of Copper Downspouts Stolen Off House

One of several reports this week, according to the Fairfax City Police.

Again, unknown thieves have made off with a hefty prize of copper from a Fairfax property, the latest in a string of similar thefts, including an area high school.

This time, it was in the 3700 block of Farr Avenue. A homeowner contacted police on Wednesday afternoon when it was discovered that two 20-foot long copper downspouts had been stolen from the rear of the home.

This was one of several reports in the past week. Others include:

  • Copper drain piping stolen from the side of a building at 10484 Armstrong Street between April 7 and April 21. 
  • Copper drainage spouts stolen from the front of a home in the 3700 block of Farr Avenue. The homeowner noted that a similar theft had occurred at a neighboring residence.
  • Two copper downspouts stolen from the guest house at the rear of a property in the 3600 block of Chain Bridge Road.
