Virginia State Police reported that, around 12:45 a.m. Saturday morning, a trooper began pursuit of a Honda Accord that was driving erratically on Route 236 just outside the Fairfax City limits.

VSP spokesperson Corinne Geller said that, when the trooper turned on its lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped away.

Traveling at more than 100 miles per hour, the suspect vehicle ran a red light through the intersection of Fairfax Boulevard and Main Street in Fairfax City and crashed just two minutes later into a Toyota Camry that had a green light to enter the intersection.

Following the crash, the driver of the Accord - a 15-year-old unlicensed driver whom police have yet to identify - fled on foot, but was caught by the state trooper and arrested.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Unfortunately the suspect's passenger, Marquette Bell, died at the scene.

The suspect driving the Accord has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, one felony count of attempting to elude police, one felony count of hit-and-run, and driving without a driver’s license.

As of Sunday, Geller said the crash is still being investigated further.
