Masked Man Grabs Cash from Main Street Restaurant

No one was injured.

Fairfax City Police are looking for the masked man who robbed a Main Street restaurant with a handgun Monday night.

The man went inside at about 8:50 p.m. Monday and threatened the cashier with a handgun. He demanded money and took it upon himself to try to pry open the cash register, to no avail. Instead, he ordered an employee to open the register and ran out with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Sgt. Joe Johnson of the City of Fairfax Police Department. He was last seen running toward Tedrich Boulevard.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police arrived but could not locate the suspect. If you have any information, call police at 703-385-7924 or contact Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS to make an anonymous tip. Those who contact Crime Solvers with information leading to an arrest can receive a cash prize.

This is the second armed robbery within the city limits since the start of the new year.

While any robbery is tragic, this is particularly sad for me. The staff at the Papusaria are always so friendly and accommodating when I visit. This news makes me want to eat a big pile of their delicious papusas.

I am sure the cops were right down the street running radar at the church exit or the museum parking lot like they always are. Crime keeps increasing in the city and all I see are cops running radar. Hopefully with a new Mayor will come change in the way our police force is run. Seeing a cop driving through our neighborhoods and shopping centers would be nice for a change.
