Police: Man Sets Fire to Flag at Outback Steak House

Fairfax City police are holding the 47-year-old man without bond. Reports say a kicking spree ended in flames.

A man began a disturbance by kicking various objects outside of the Fairfax Boulevard CVS, then set fire to a flag outside Outback Steak House before being hauled to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to police.

Fairfax City police reported that at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday, an employee of the CVS Pharmacy on Fairfax Boulevard saw a man kick over a trash can in front of the store. He then kicked the hood of a parked vehicle.

The employee reported watching the man going next door to Outback Steak House, where he set a flag afire by the front door before taking off.

Fairfax City officers took John Anthony Tanous, 47, of Alexandria, into custody, according to a police report.

He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was served two warrants charging him with destruction of property.

He is being held without bond.
