Lock those car doors, Fairfax! The Fairfax Police Department's most recent daily crime bulletin notes three thefts from cars in the city between Wednesday, May 14 and Saturday, May 17.

But, the reports note valuables were taken out of two vehicles that had been left unlocked.

On Friday, a vehicle owner reported that someone had stolen the residential parking permit from his unlocked car earlier in the week.

On Saturday, an employee at Brown's Mazda contacted police after finding that an iPad had been stolen from his unlocked car Thursday, May 15.

On Wednesday, a woman reported a theft from her locked car. She'd parked the vehicle overnight in the parking lot at Lifetime Fitness, at 9602 Main Street. When she returned in the morning, her purse had been stolen, containing a diamond ring, cash, a check and identification.

locking a car door did not stop someone from stealing a woman's purse. So That information is bogus. Where were the police when this happened? The woman is lucky to have her car still parked there and wasn't towed by a tow company.

For the ones with the unlocked cars, you got what you deserve. For the stolen purse nincompoop, the same. What kind of idiot leaves a diamond ring in a purse in a car overnight in a public parking lot?
