Former Employees Suspected of Signing Over and Cashing Brown's Mazda Checks

They were arrested last month.

Fairfax City Police recently arrested two former Brown's Fairfax Mazda employees for allegedly cashing dealership checks for large amounts of money back in April.

Jennifer Kay Garnett, 38, and Mattie Beatrice O’Bannion, 38, both from Front Royal, were arrested on July 18.Police say Garnett and O'Bannion removed checks from Brown's Mazda, signed and cashed them for money without permission. An employee at Brown's reported this to police on July 13.

Both were charged with embezzlement.

Garnett and O’Bannion were transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where both were released on $2,500 personal recognizance bonds.
