Fire Department Names New Assistant Medical Director

Dr. Nicholas Sutingco is the Fairfax City Fire Department's new assistant medical director.

The City of Fairfax Fire Department issued the following press release this week:

The City of Fairfax Fire Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nicholas Sutingco to the position of Assistant Medical Director. 

Dr. Sutingco will be supporting the Department’s Operational Medical Director, Dr. Mark Franke, with the oversight and direction of the Emergency Medical Services Program.   Dr. Sutingco will be directly involved with education of the EMTs and Paramedics as well as advising in critical areas such as protocol development and medical case review.

Having started his medical career as paramedic, Dr. Sutingco continued on to receive his medial doctorate degree from George Washing University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.  He completed his Harvard based Emergency Medicine Residency in New England – and has been Board certified in Emergency Medicine since 2005.

Dr. Sutingco is currently practices at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital, where he is currently serving as the Chairman of Emergency Medicine.  He is also a staff physician at Fauquier Hospital and Assistant Clinical professor at the George Washington School of Medicine.   Dr. Sutingco continues participate in research, and has authored several publications related to emergency medicine.

Dr. Sutingco lives in Fairfax with his wife and daughter.
