Fairfax Man Identified as Body Found in Chantilly Brush Fire

Medical examiner has not determined how Fairfax man died.

 

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue announced Wednesday that they have identified the body of the man firefighters found Sunday in Chantilly as Handel Victor Stephens-Dowd.

Stephens-Dowd was 24 years old and lived on Leafcrest Lane in Fairfax, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters were putting out a brush fire Sunday near Lee-Jackson Memorial Highway and the Fairfax County Parkway when they found Stephens-Dowd. No word on whether his death was connected to the fire.

The medical examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of death, according to the news release. Fire investigators and police continue the investigation.
