Crossing Guard Hit By Car In Front of Fairfax City School Monday

Traffic was shut down as first-responders arrived at the scene.

A female crossing guard was hit by a car in front of St. Leo's Catholic School in Fairfax City Monday morning.

Thankfully, police told Patch her injuries were only minor and it appears she will be OK.

City of Fairfax police public information officer Sgt. Michael Duncan said, unfortunately, the driver of the car just didn't see her in the crosswalk, but was fortunately traveling at a very low speed when the car struck her.

Sgt. Duncan said the number of public safety first-responders was significant and traffic was therefore shut down for a while after the accident in front of the school, located at 3704 Old Lee Highway, but all had returned to normal by late morning.
